I haven't written in a long time. Why? Life happened. There are times when you just aren't sure which of a dozen topics to write about, or aren't sure what is appropriate to make public, or just are so caught up in the chaos that blogging is a last priority. Now that things are settling down I want to begin writing again, but not about the craziness. Rather, I want to talk about what has centered me. My photography. I have talked about it before, about escaping from time to time and becoming part of nature. More and more, these trips have become my passion. Some of it is in the joy of being around beautiful things. Some of it is in building my skill in capturing the beauty. Even more of it is sharing the beauty with others. In my photography trips I abandon whatever stress or work is in my life and find a new world, and my having my camera with me all of my attention turns to capturing a perfect moment. And yes, my obsessive, perfectionist side comes out, taking many shots of one object before I move on. I don't ever get frustrated or discouraged- I am just rewarded at the end by my perseverance. It is also somewhat of a spiritual journey, becoming part of, as we say at my church, the interconnected web of life. I like how my phototherapy is healing and nurturing me.
Since my last post two months ago, I have been the busiest I have been in a very long time, but I have managed to make time for my phototherapy, because it has been sorely needed.
In April I made a quick trip to College Station, where two buildings have been renovated and reopened at Texas A&M- the baseball field and the student center. Even though it wasn't nature photography, it was just as fun to find angles and beauty in the buildings. A couple favorite pictures are below- okay, more than a couple, i couldn't decide...

On May 5, I went to Spring Creek Forest Preserve just north of Dallas. To my surprise, there was a field of two of my favorite Texas spring flowers- Mexican hat and Indian blanket. The Indian blanket were very straightforward to work with, but the shape of the Mexican hat gave me a new challenge, and I was excited when I mastered them. I also played with the trees in the small forest.

Yesterday I was visiting my aunt and went to her neighborhood pool. I noticed a bridge and some flowers, so after my day I went back to see what was there. It was a sign of how I have changed- I am always on the lookout for places to explore and photographs to take. here is my favorite picture from the bridge and my favorite flower picture.
